This is my blog, or diary, or ranting area, or whatever you wish to call it. Sometimes I post here interesting news, other times just personal things or totally random rants. You can subscribe to the RSS feed for the blog if you wish.
So, I decided that I will blogging another try. I took a long break from it, mostly because I see little value in the posts I wrote. I took a few of the most promising ones, merged them into larger articles and posted on my wiki, with those “to be continued” slapped at the bottom. But strangely, somehow I can’t get myself to continue them. Writing short blog posts is so much easier – it may not be the optimal form for reading, but at least I’m getting it out of my head. Plus I’m practicing writing, which is always a nice thing. Nobody has to read it and I still benefit!
There was some temptation to use some new blogging software, like Zine or maybe even Wordpress (shudder). Or to make a new skin for this here Oddmuse, but that would be just distraction from the actual writing.
I tried microblogging on Identi.ca for a moment, but somehow it simply doesn’t work for me. Seems like the only way to say something in there is to post a link, and that will be instantly drowned in the heaps of other links posted in there. Plus, I want to read the blogs I like once in a while, daily, weekly or monthly, not every minute. Plus, and own page, with its own address and theme feels so much better.
Speaking of which, I will probably need to reorganize this wiki/blog a little, as there is a normal wiki that does most of the work now (at http://wiki.sheep.art.pl). Everything in its time, writing first.
I’m back from the EuroPython, it has been a great experience. I learned a lot about python and some tools and libraries that are available for it, but mostly I have met a lot of very interesting people. My organization sucked horribly, we traveled 12h with a bus, we stayed in the most expensive hotel in the vicinity, gone to the most expensive restaurant and I couldn’t even stay for sprints – even may plan to do the sprints from home didn’t work, as I have just fallen asleep right after arrival. Nevertheless it was all worth it.
I learn on my mistakes and next year I will organize it much better. Next EuryPython is taking place in Birmingham, England, and I will definitely plan a lot of time for sprints and sightseening.
I’m looking for a new flat now. I’ve been living for the last couple of years with my friends, but now they move out so I need to find something – and preferably before the army of students starts looking for rooms.
I’m still not sure if I want a room or a separate flat – these are pretty expensive, although I do like being alone...
Moving out is going to be horrible – I have so much cruft accumulated, I will have to throw away almost all of it. Nothing important or personal – just things I didn’t want to throw away because “they could come in handy one day”. But I don’t feel like bringing them all with me, especially when my new room/flat is going to be smaller than the current 40m².
I really hate looking for a room – I did some initial searches for now, but i’m going to do it seriously when I’m back from the Euro Python in a week. Wish me luck.
